Our Mission
James1:27, Matt25:40
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and keep oneself from being polluted by the world...for truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these my brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
Our Vision
At Love Haven, we believe that...
  1. Every child is created by God, and deserves to be loved
  2. Every child desreves to have the basic needs of life met in order to have a brighter future.
Love Haven is dedicated to Showing the Love of God to underprivileged children in Liberia by providing essential support, including housing, food, education, and sponsorship opportunities for a brighter future.
Join us in our mission to uplift and empower the children who will become the future leaders in Liberia and the world for the Kingdom of God, by ensuring they have access to the spiritual and basic necessities and opportunities needed to thrive and succeed in life.

The ministry of Love Haven was born as an effect of the Liberien Civil War (Dec 24, 1989-Aug 18, 2003) and the Ebola crisis(2014-2016), due to the sudden explosion of orphan as poverty and death tolls soared steeply.

Although the War ended over two decades ago, the devestation it caused has crippled the people's ability to rebuild and advance as a society.

Why Love Haven?

Today, Liberia remains the eighth poorest country in the world, and Love Haven strives to bring hope for a brighter future for all Liberians by helping its most vulnerable citizens.

Our Projects

Housing

Thanks to the generosity of current donors and supporters Love Haven completed a new and imporved home for the children and primary caretaker, Rebecca in June 2025.

Prior to the completion of the home, 33 orphans and Rebecca lived in a 200sq ft, one bedroom hut with no indoor batroom in one of the most remote villages in Liberia, with new children being added constantly. They slept on floor mats.

The new home has over 2,000sq ft of space, four bedrooms and two bathrooms with plumbing, and its own well. In this house each child will get to sleep in a (bunk)bed, and they will be closer better medical facilities and schools for the older children.

The new home is a tremendous improvement from the previous living condition, and Love Haven plans to further improve and expand the home to better accomodate the older children, who in turn, help take cae of the younger ones.

Sustainable Nutrition

Due to the extreme economic hardship of the country as a whole, and the sheer number of children living at Love Haven, food is scarce, and sometimes simply unavailable at the home.

We have been able to provide a somewhat more consistent flow of food for the children throug the cash gifts of donors, but even with the assistance, there are many days where the children must be content with little or no food.

To more effectively fight the battle against Hunger, Love Haven is implementing two life-saving projects: child sposorship, and the establishment of a homestead on the property.

Sponsorship
When you choose to sponsor a child at Love Haven for just $40/month, you provide adequate food for one child for an entire month, eliminating the greatest threat to their life, health and future. 75% of all sponsorships goes directly towards buying food as we plan and work to establish independence and sustainability for the home.
Homested
One of the ultimate goals of Love Haven is to establish a system that teaches the less fortunate how to rise above the oppression of poverty both physically and psychologically, and to give them the tools to do so successfully.
This project will be completely volunteer and donation based. There will be a team that will teach and help to start agricultural basics such as planting grain and vegetables for food and animal feed. Another aspect will focus on raising liviestock and different kinds of food processing techniques and sale.
Through this homestead, the children will be able to not only feed themselves, but also accquire much-needed skills that will benefit the community as a whole.

If you teach a child to fish, you will feed him for a lifetime

Education

Education is the key to a successful future.

At Love Haven, our educational goal is to raise up the men and women who will have the social, economic, and spiritual leadership skills to heal Liberia's current crippled state.

The Curriculum

Leadership Training will be woven into every lesson that is provided by Love Haven, starting form the moment a child starts learning their ABC's, until they leave the home, according to their level of understanding. The children will be taught not just how to recognize and fill needs, but how to pass on those skills and initiatives to those around them.

There will be a focus on raising future church and ministry leaders through the incorporation of Bible studies and community service projects into the weekly schedule of Love Haven.

Another area of education provided by Love Haven will be economics and sustainability, primarily through the Homestead project.

The organization will also provide social education. Subjects of focus will be on overal wellnes and disease prevention, highlighting nutrition, first aid, hygiene and mental health.

The Building

The new permanent location of the Love Haven home brings the older students within a more appropriate proximity to better schools. But the younger children are still too young to walk to the local pupblic schools and closest church building (about two miles).

The organization plans to use volunteers and and donations to build a multipurpose bulding on the premises that will be used as a schoolhouse for the younger Love Haven children during the week, with qualified local teachers hired (and paid by sponsorship funds) for their primary education. This building will also server as an activity and meeting place for the children, caretakers/teachers and volunteers, as well as a church on Sundays. This is where vital training will be given to the children and community for a better future.

Donation Drives

There are many basic items that we, in a wealthy country like The U.S., often forget are not accessible in many places.

The reality is that in places like Liberia, most homes lack common household items and appliances that make daily efforts like cooking and cleaning efficient enough to allow time for other activities.

The children at the Love Haven home have a dire need for food, clothes, shoes, underwear, school supplies and toys; as many of them are brought to the home with no possessions. The home itself, although finished, lacks furniture, appliances, dishes, and other common household items.

Most households in Liberia spend about five hours everyday just cooking and cleaning, and in a home with over 30 children, these daily chores take up almost all of the available time for Rebecca and the older girls; furthermore, there is currently no way to refrigerate or store foods at the home.

Love Haven hosts donation drives to collect nonperishable foods, household items such as furniture and appliances, health and hygiene products, school supplies and toys to ship to the Love haven home to improve the quality of life for the children.

Additionally, we ask for cash donations year-round to help with the cost of shipping the items and support our various pojects.
